In the year 1992 the Winter Olympics were held in France. This video is a medal ceremony of the women-single ice-skating event. This video is interesting because you can see the style lines of 1992 and what might have emerged in later years because of the Olympics mass media coverage. You can see from the video that an American, Kristi Yamaguichi, took first place. Her skating uniform showed many trends that were common in the early nineties. You can see that every skater on the medalist block has high shoulder pads. The v-neckline was very popular and you can see it on each skater’s uniform. Also if you look at the colors from the crowd they’re all wearing dark true colors. This helps to show the emerging lack of color in the early-mid nineties. If you look at the texture in the garments you also see more of a thick rough exterior with a lace like appearance.
